Course Objectives
This domain course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the application of technology in the agricultural sector. The course aims to explore the various technologies used in agriculture, their potential benefits and challenges, and how they can be effectively managed and leveraged to improve productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness in agribusiness operations.
Course Syllabus
Module - I
Technology Management- Aims and objectives, technology absorption and diffusion, technology marketing issues, management of technological change: R&D activities and cost of technologies, government, and private initiatives for the upliftment of technology for agriculture
Module - II
Identification of Agri technology, technologies profiles, agroecological and socio-economic conditionality, refinement, and adaptability of technology; technological need and preparatory management, policy perspectives.
Module - III
High-tech horticulture-high density planting in fruit crops, integrated pest management, integrated nutrient management of important fruits and vegetables, precision farming, micropropagation, micro-irrigation, protected cultivation, value addition
Module - IV
High-tech agriculture-seed production technique, high yielding and hybrid varieties, biotech products, new crop establishment method, input use efficiency, leaf color chart for nutrient management, value addition in agriculture
Module - V
Seed and fodder management, biotechnological applications in the dairy industry, Ultra High Temperature (UHT) pasteurization of milk, technology management for livestock products, value addition in eggs.
