Course Name : Job Role - Shop floor Enginner

Course Objectives

1. To gain an understanding and appreciation of the principles and applications relevant to the planning, design, and operations of manufacturing.
2. To gain some ability to recognize situations in a production system environment that suggests the use of certain quantitative methods to assist in decision making on operations management and strategy.
3. To increase the knowledge, and broaden the perspective of the world in which you will contribute your talents and leadership in business operations.
4. To understand the managerial responsibility for Operations, even when production is outsourced, or performed in regions far from corporate headquarters.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the core features of the operations and production management function at the operational and strategic levels.
2. Explain the various parts of the operations and production management processes and their interaction with other business functions.
3. Develop the ability to identify operational methodologies to assess and improve an organizations performance.

Course Syllabus

Module 1: Codes & Charts used on shop floor (12hrs)

Practice- Understand the ISO & INTERNATIONAL codes related to tolerance, surface finish and cutting tools
Practice- Preparation of gang chart
Practice- Preparation of Machine schedule chart
Practice- Use of PPE as per need

Module 2: Interpretation of Drawing and CAD Design. (15hrs)

Practice: Studying of different part and assembly drawing.
Practice: Drawing preparation from visualizing and measuring a pre-machined part.
Practice: Illustration of Paper drawing into CAD.

Module 3: Preparing Pre-machining activities on CNC Machine (15hrs)

Practice: Extraction, correction and modification of job information.
Practice: Identify raw material, tools and necessary equipment.
Practice: Checking of work area and calibration of tools.
Practice: Learn how to get the programme.
Practice: pre-set the tooling using jigs and fixture, machine vice, tool holder etc.
Practice: Understand limit and tolerance system, geometrical symbol.

Module 4: Design of Jigs & Fixtures. (12hrs)

Practice- Concept and need of Jigs and Fixtures.
Practice- Elements in Jigs and Locating Principle
Practice- Clamping and Guiding for various Components
Practice- Fixtures for Turning, Shaping, Milling and Grinding Operations.
Practice- Use of Plate Jig, Leaf Jig and Box Jig etc. Case study
Practice- Accessories Elements used in Fixtures.

Module 5: Preparation of Documents (15hrs)

Practice- Preparation of inspection report .
Practice- Preparation of invoices and Delivery Challans.
Practice- Preparation of Dispatch documents.
Practice- Preparing the requisition sheet to maintain Inventory.

Module 6: Introduction to CAM and practices (15hrs)

Practice: Introduction to Master cam Interface
Practice: Job setup in Mastercam
Practice: Importing models to mastercam
Practice: Creating 2D Toolpaths & 3D toolpaths
Practice: Component machining of turning & milling
Practice: Hands on practice on mastercam and program validation in machine
Practice: Adjusting the tolerances in Mastercam & machine
