Course Name : Mines Modeling

Course Objectives

To make aware of basic components in mine design software.

Expose to the validation of Geological modeling.

Familiarization with String, DTM, Geological database.

Geological Drill hole database, Block modeling, Road and Ramp design

Learning Outcomes

Deal with a geological database and structure.

Validation of Solid modeling and application.

Concepts of Block modeling and design.

Design of Pit, Ramp, and Road design

Course Syllabus

MODULE I: (4 hrs)  Introduction

Overview, Workflow, Geological database concepts, setting up of work directory, Setting Work directory, the concept of String, point, and segments.

MODULE II : (6 hrs) DTM surfaces

Concepts of DTM, Displaying the DTM, Triangles in DTM, Application of DTM’s – sections, Contouring (by DTMs, and by Strings), Contouring by triangulation method.

MODULE III : (8 hrs)  Geological Database

Create user define fields and tables, Concepts and structure of the geological database, Creating geological database, Importing data into a geological database (from CSV files), Displaying drill holes from the database with collar, assay, and geology data.

MODULE IV: (6 hrs) Solid Modelling

Concepts of the object and isolation,  Creating a solid from geological sections by using different tools, Validating solids, Intersections of Solids and DTM.

MODULE V :

Block Modelling

Concepts of block modelling, Concepts of constraints and attributes • Partial percentage and assign value function in the block model, Displaying block models and colour-coding, Estimation of grades, Creating a report from block models.

MODULE VI

Pit and miscellaneous Design

Pit design concept, Basic input parameters for pit design, Creating a pit design with different tools, Road and Ramp design.

Projects

Creating a geological database using DTM( 3hrs).

Create a drill hole database, displaying a drill hole (4hrs)

Design block modelling for coal and metal mines (4 hrs)

Design of  Pit, Road, and ramp in coal and metal mines (4 hrs)
