Course Objectives

To familiarize the students about the causal  organism, symptomatology, etiology and epidemiology of  the important diseases of field and horticulture crops for  devising efficient management strategies against them.

THEORY

Symptoms, etiology, disease cycle and management of following diseases. Diseases of field crops: Diseases of   Wheat: Rusts, loose smut, karnal bunt, powdery mildew, alternaria blight, and ear cockle.Diseases of   Sugarcane: Red rot, smut, wilt, grassy shoot, ratoon stunting and Pokkah Boeng Diseases of   Sunflower: Sclerotinia stem rot and Alternaria blight Diseases of   Mustard: Alternaria blight, white rust, downy mildew and Sclerotinia stem rot .Diseases of   Gram: Wilt, grey mould and Ascochyta blight.Diseases of   Lentil: Rust and wilt.Diseases of Cotton: Anthracnose, vascular wilt, and black arm.Diseases of   Pea: Downy mildew, powdery mildew and rust. Diseases of Horticultural Crops: Diseases of Mango: Anthracnose, malformation, bacterial blight and powdery mildew.Diseases of  Citrus: Canker and gummosis.Diseases of   Grape vine: Downy mildew, Powdery mildew and anthracnose.
