COURSE OBJECTIVES :

 

  1. Understand the Structure and Functioning of Healthcare Systems:
    Explain the organization of healthcare systems, including hospitals, surgical units, and anesthesia departments, with emphasis on administrative workflows and patient care coordination.
  2. Apply Principles of Health Care Ethics and Legal Aspects:
    Identify and apply legal, ethical, and professional standards relevant to anesthesia practice, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and scope of practice.
  3. Demonstrate Effective Communication and Teamwork:
    Exhibit effective interpersonal and professional communication skills necessary for collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and administrative personnel.
  4. Utilize Health Care Quality and Safety Management Practices:
    Implement protocols for quality assurance, patient safety, infection control, and risk management in perioperative and anesthesia care settings.
  5. Develop Basic Leadership and Resource Management Skills:
    Apply foundational management skills such as inventory control of anesthesia supplies, time management, scheduling, and equipment maintenance in a clinical environment.

 

COURSE OUTCOMES : 

 

CO1: Demonstrate understanding of healthcare organizational structure and workflow:  Students will be able to describe the roles of various departments and personnel in surgical and anesthesia care, and how efficient management supports clinical operations.

 

CO2: Apply ethical and legal standards in anesthesia practice :  Students will recognize the importance of patient rights, consent, confidentiality, and professional responsibilities in a healthcare setting.

 

CO3 : Communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team :  Students will demonstrate appropriate communication techniques and teamwork skills to ensure smooth coordination in perioperative care.

 

CO4 : Contribute to quality assurance and patient safety protocols  :  Students will identify key aspects of healthcare quality control, participate in maintaining safety standards, and support infection control and risk management practices.

Module II: Health Organization

Historical development of Health Care System in the third world & India, Organization & Structure of Health Administration in India, Type of Health Organization including International Organizations, Private & Voluntary Health care Provider, Distribution of Health Care Services, Health Care System in Public Sector Organization, Health system of Various Countries.

Module III: Health Policy and National Health Programme

National Health Policy, Drug Policy, National Health Programs (Malaria, T.B., Blindness, AIDS etc.), Evaluation of Health Programs (Developing indicators for evaluation), Medical Education & Health Manpower Development.

 

Module IV: Health Economics-Fundamentals of Economics

Scope & Coverage, Demand for Health Services, Health as an Investment, Population, Health of Economic Development. Economics of Health-Population based health services, Economics of Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases

 

Module V: Methods & Techniques of Economic Evaluation of Health Program

Cost Benefit & Cost-Effective Methods. •Household & Health  Health Expenditure & Outcome, Rationale for Government action, Household capacity, income and schooling

 

Module VI: Definition of Health, Determinants of Health, Health Indicators of India, Health Team Concept. •National Health Policy, Health Insurance, National Health Programmers (Brief Objectives and Scope). Population of India and Family welfare programme in India.

 

  • Family: Influence of family on Individuals Health, family and nutrition, the effects of sickness in the family and psychosomatic disease and their Importance to physiotherapy. The family, meaning and definitions. Functions, types of family. Changing family patterns.

 

Module VII: Culture and Health Disorders, Social Change, Meaning of social changes. Factors of social changes and Human adaptation and  social change and stress. Social changes. Social changes and health programmes. The role of social planning in the Improvement of health and rehabilitation
