Domain Track Objectives:

At the end of the course the students will be knowledgeable in the following aspects of ocular diseases:
1. Etiology,
2. Epidemiology,
3. Symptoms,
4. Signs,
5. Course sequelae of ocular disease,
6. Diagnostic approach, and
7. Management of the ocular diseases.

Domain Track Learning Outcomes:

These educational objectives are supported by a curriculum that seeks to have its graduates achieve the following student outcomes:

1. To understand the basics of structural abnormality

2. to identify basic signs and symptoms

3.To diagnoses the different ocular disease

4. To understand the basic etiological and pathological factor of the disease condition

5. to make the decision of different diagnostic criteria and treatment plan

Domain Syllabus:

Module-I

Orbit:

AppliedAnatomy, Proptosis(Classification, Causes, Investigations), Enophthalmos, Development Anomalies Craniosynostosiscraniofacial Dysostosis, Hypertelorism,   Median   facial   cleft syndrome), Orbital  Inflammations  (preseptal  cellulitis,  Orbital  cellulitis  Orbital  Periostitis, cavernous sinus, Thrombosis),Grave’s Ophthalmopathy, Orbitaltumors(Dermoids, capillary haemangioma,   Optic   nerve   glioma), Orbital blowout  fractures, Orbitalsurgery  (Orbitotomy),  Orbital  tumors,  Orbital  trauma, Approach  to  a patient with proptosis

Module-II 

 Lids:

Applied Anatomy, Congenital anomalies (Ptosis, Coloboma, Epicanthus, Distichiasis, Cryptophthalmos), Oedema of the eyelids(Inflammatory, Solid, Passive edema), Inflammatory disorders(Blepharitis, ExternalHordeolum, Chalazion, Internalhordeolum, MolluscumContagiosum), Anomalies in the position of the lashes and Lid Margin(Trichiasis, Ectropion, Entropion, Symblepharon, Blepharophimosis, Lagophthalmos, Blepharospasm, Ptosis). Tumors (Papillomas, Xanthelasma, Haemangioma, Basal carcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma, sebaceous gland melanoma).

Module-III

Lacrimal System:

Applied Anatomy, TearFilm, The Dry Eye ( Sjogren’s Syndrome) The watering eye (Etiology, clinical evaluation), Dacryocystitis, Swelling of the Lacrimal gland( Dacryoadenitis). Conjunctiva: Applied Anatomy, Inflammations of the conjunctiva(Infective conjunctivitis – bacterial, chlamydial, viral, Allergic conjunctivitis, Granulomatous conjunctivitis), Degenerative conditions( Pinguecula, Pterygium, Concretions), Symptomatic conditions( Hyperaemia, Chemosis, Ecchymosis, Xerosis, Discoloration), Cysts and Tumors.

Module-IV 

Cornea:

Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Congenital Anomalies (Megalocornea, Microcornea, Cornea plans, Congenital cloudy cornea), Inflammations of the cornea. (Topographical classifications: Ulcerative).

Module-V 

Etiological classifications:

Infective, Allergic, Trophic, Traumatic, Idiopathic, Degenerations ( classifications, Arcussenilis, Vogt’s white limbal girdle, Hassal-henle bodies, Lipoid Keratopathy, Band shaped keratopathy, Salzmann’s nodular degeneration, Droplet keratopathy, Pellucid Marginal degeneration), Dystrophies ( Reis Buckler dystrophy, Recurrent corneal erosion syndrome, Granular dystrophy, Lattice dystrophy, Macular dystrophy, cornea guttata, Fuch’s epithelial endothelial dystrophy, Congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy)

Keratoconus, Keratoglobus, Corneal edema, Corneal opacity, Corneal vascularisation, Penetrating Keratoplasty

Uveal Tract and Sclera:

Applied Anatomy, Classification of uveitis, Etiology, Pathology, Anterior Uveitis, Posterior Uveitis, Purulent Uveitis, Endophthalmitis, Panophthalmitis, Pars planitis, Tumors of the uveal tract( Melanoma), Episcleritis and scleritis, Clinical examination of Uveitis and Scleritis
