Course Objectives

Describe basic morphology, life cycle, pathogenesis, lab diagnosis and treatment of parasites (Protozoa, metazoa and Helminth)

Perform appropriate laboratory techniques used in the processing of specimens and identification of parasites.

Perform sample collection , transportation and preservation of sample.

    Understand the general characteristics and classification of protozoa and helminths. Learn the methods of collection, transport, processing, and preservation of samples for parasitological investigations.

    Gain knowledge about laboratory diagnosis methods for various parasites, including direct and indirect methods, rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), Quantitative Buffy Coat Assay (QBC), Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test (MRDT), and Leishmanin test.
